Default gentle reminder about contracts

I've been visiting with RockinRhonda about her situation, and I wanted to take a moment to remind our new and old breeders alike the importance of contracts and proper documentation.....

Too often, buyers are not demanding contracts from breeders and that leaves room for real issues if a problem presents itself down the road. When purchasing foundation stock, or a pet for that matter, present the breeder a written list of your expectations and have those expectations added to her contract. If a contract is not given to you, draft your own. Any breeder here would likely be willing to give advice on what a contract needs to cover.

A purchase made without a written agreement gives the buyer little or no recourse if things do not work out as intended. With the buyers expectations given upfront a foundation breeder can then point out what is / is not realistic for her. When everyone is on the same page, situations tend to go much more smoothly. Our trusting nature can sometimes get the best of us becasue we often just assume problems will be made right. Proper contracts and documentation save both parties head ache, pocket ache and heart ache!
