What have the blood tests shown? When he comes in, I'm sure they've drawn blood immediately - and I'm wondering what the glucose level was.

Also, have they done an ECG to check his heart rhythm?
Have they ruled out seizures (there are many types, including types where they still seem conscious)?
Have they checked his blood pressure right when you've brought him in?
How is the "dehydration" being diagnosed? Simply by the gums or also confirmed via bloodworks?
