Emo knows that you are a lot of fun and that you care about him a lot! He probably loves your company more than his own family.
There's nothing wrong with being sad, we can easily get attached to pets in even a day or two. At least your neighbors aren't moving far away and you can still see Emo a lot! So be happy for that!
