Canine pregnancy lasts for 63 days after ovualtion. Since your gal was in heat around the first of July she would have already had pups or be about to whelp at this time. Sometimes a gal will have a false pregnancy with her first heat and often will stay swollen due to the hormonal changes. I'm sure your little gal will be safe, her body is just adjusting to it's new maturity.
