You are wise to wait. Yorkies are not good young children dogs. I had a bad experience with my then 15 yr old Yorkie and my newborn son. They hated each other and I was constantly on edge. Not good for either of them! I waited until my son iwas almost 6 and just got a puppy. My son is a lover and understands how to treat the now 6 month old puppy and the 2 of them are thick as theives! You would wear yourself out trying to juggle both. A girlfriend of mine bought a Yorkie for her kids w/o talking to me about it and she has been miserable ever since, not nearly as miserable as that poor Yorkie! My Vet suggested age 5 to 8 depending on the personality of your child to bring home a toy breed. Best Wishes!
