Cali stayed at the edge of my bed all night--and occassionally, I would reach down and lpat her head in reassurance...she never left her puppies.

I weighed the puppies and they have already gained some weight. Apparently they are latching on when I'm not looking! My breeder friend looked them over and confirmed that they do not appear to be dehydrated or have any signs of distress.

Mama is eating-IF I put the food in the box and hand feed her and/or just stay with her the whole time. Not that she isn't hungry. I think you are right on-she just doesn't want to leave the babies.
