Baron is 9 months old now. He's been in the family for 3 months. I have 5 cats.,7,5,5,3,and 1. I also have a 7 year old Papillion. Baron and Sammy think their cats and visa versa. The dogs play with the cat nip toys and steal the cats food when they can. The cats chase the dog toys and eat the dog food while Sammy growls @ them and they ignore him. When I mention treats for the dogs the cats come too. It's like a zoo here, But everyone gets along. My husband says they all are having an Identity Crisis and I should tell them who's a dog and who's a cat. Please, They're happy and healthy so that's all that matters. Your cat and dog will get along just fine. Introduce them slowly and stay with them when they're together for awhile so you can see how they react to one another. It'll work out. I hope this helps...
