I had a female that never once slept with her puppies. They slept in a playpen at the end of my bed and my female slept with me. When the puppies cried she went to them until they were quiet, then back to bed with me.

I tried to make her stay with her puppies, but finally put a heating pad in the puppies' bed and let my mom decide where she wanted to be.The puppies all gained weight and grew up just fine.

I think your mom's sense of loyalty to you is being challenged, and she is doing the best she can. Keep feeding her by hand if necessary. Things should settle down in a few days. Best wishes.
