You didn't say how old he is - but if he's a puppy, or even if he's older, have you tried nutrical? Our little ones do get blood sugar crashes easily and little dab sure helps that in a minute. If you don't have nutrical - a little bit of honey will do it (I've even used grape jelley in a crunch).

Young ones or extremely small ones need to eat more often or they get shakey and will even faint.
