Hey, I have an idea about the part that you leave the product on for 3 minutes.
I'll do a leave-in treatment on my hair this way while I do other things:
Just wrap the puppy in a towel warmed up by the dryer.
(Have other towels in the dryer for drying puppy later)
This way, puppy also gets time to relax and hugged.
