IMO, Frontline is the best. I tried Advantage (because I couldn't get the Frontline right then) once on my cats....nada! So, back to Frontline for me. I noticed you said you treated him over a month ago. The Frontline is a once per month treatment, so that could be it....unless you've been seeing them on him since you treated him with it. Also, you can't bathe 2 days before or 2 days after treating with any Drop or Spray style flea treatment. Otherwise, it will likely be ineffective, or at least its effectiveness will be reduced. The pills you talked about only kill fleas that are in the adult stage and only if the flea actually bites your dog. Frontline (and Advantage for that matter, I believe) kills all life stages of fleas as long as they come into contact with your dog. What people said about having fleas in your house or yard is soooo true. Treating your animals but having tons of fleas in those places is almost fighting a losing battle. If you had so many in your house that treating your dog and letting him be a magnet to kill those wasn't enough, I would think you'd be getting flea bites on your feet/ankles. But, the "bowl of water" trick really does work! I used a white dish, though, so I could see them easier just walking by the time I did it. The biggest thing to remember.....no bath 2 days before or after treating!!! |
