That's a possibility with any dog, and it seems to vary even with how they take to the particular dog you buy. My first took to the second right away, but she still isn't what I'd call friendly with the third and fourth ones. She gets along with them fine now, but it's more like she tolerates them. She often makes a little "hmmph" noise when she walks by them, like she thinks they're beneath her or something. She still just walks up and pushes them out of the way if they're getting my attention.

Just make sure you're around to monitor them for at least a few days after you get your new one so you can see how they're getting along. When I get a new animal, I set the carrier down in the room so they can all sniff at each other for a while. It can be a stressful experience for the new dog too, so you don't want to just plop it down on the floor and let the others start jumping on it. Jillian cried for days after we brought her home even though none of the other dogs were being agressive. She was very scared at being taken away from her mom and her littermates.

I think you'll be fine with the Chi as long as you give them some adjustment time and you make sure the dogs you already have aren't suffering from lack of attention because you have a new puppy. It's hard not to give a new puppy a lot of attention, but if your other dogs feel neglected, they'll resent the new one and that alone can make them agressive toward it.
