Default Shots make them sore?

-- I didn't know if this should go into the Health and Diet section or the Injured section, I don't think he is injured though.

Our little Wrigley who is 3 months old went to the vet for the first time (with us, he of course went before) with us today. He got a shot, somewhere on his side (I think that is where) well he has been fine all day. He didn't even yelp when they gave him the shot, and he did good when I put some flea meds on him today, but then around 6 or so I took him out of his crate and he yelped. Now if you try to pick him up he yelps. Could his front legs/muscles be sore or is this a bad side affect? He is still being playful and stuff, he isn't completely himself but he is playing. So is he just sore or should I be worried? And if I shouldn't be worried yet, when should I be worried? I usually pick him up right behind his front legs (like his side where his ribs are) and that is when he is yelping all of the sudden.

Soooo basically are they usually tender after a shot, or should I be worried?
