Point and shoot cameras will almost always give you the possessed look in your pups. If you're using a detachable flash on top of your camera, use a rubber band and index card to force the light upward to the ceiling so prevent the red/blue/green eye.

On point & shoot cameras, you may be able to tape a small piece of index card to force the flash upward while still getting the benefit of illumination.
