You absolutely CAN use human hair products on most dogs.
If you dog has a known sensitivity to topicals then the Ph balance found in many of our own hair products may be too much for them.

As with anything, be observant of any negative changes. Personally, if I have run out of my dog coat products, I will certainly use human products as needed, haven't had a single issue yet from Yorkshire Terrier to Irish Wolfhounds. If it's hairspray that you're using, be sure it's in a well ventillated area and you cover their eyes and move them out of the residual mist as soon as you can. Just like you'd do for yourself.

If the hairspray is for a topknot, what I like to do is actually spray theh hairspray ON THE COMB (metal) first, just a spritz or two works, and then comb the dampened comb through the hair as needed for hold.

....and then I bathe my little critters with a non-soap shampoo product to remove any buildup from their coat that night and put in a conditioner as needed.
