I think 4-5 hours in a crate is fine. Our Wrigley who is 3 months old stays in his crate all night (like last night he was in there from 11:30-7:30 and he didn't whine or bark or anything. Granted I know not everyone is so lucky, but I think they just mostly sleep when they are in a crate. We are crate training him so we don't have as many accidents. So far only 3 accidents (and one was very small).
