So my little Maltese mom that had mainly black Morkie babies - not what I aimed for - will not have any more Morkie puppies, while a different little Maltese mom has exactly the color I am looking for the two times she had Morkie babies. I have found that over all - the babies are more what I want when the mom is a Maltese and the dad is the Yorkie. I am not trying to "better a breed" as a Morkie is not a "breed" but a hybrid. I am trying to always "better" my own individual breeding program though.
This has me confused. Since Maltese are white, why would you think the mom had anything to do with producing mostly black colored babies? I can understand different moms putting out different looking babies as far as face, structure and coat quality but how could a Maltese influence a litter to be more black in color? |
