Coat shine is another factor. Are their coats shiny to the eye or are they dull. Silk will shine while cotton is quite dull. |
Awww, thanks Kimberley

I really did think that Tatum would have been MUCH lighter by now...she will be 2 years old in about 2 months (November 28th) but she is still jet black!

Her head is changing though, getting more gold/tan in color, but her back doesn't seem to be doing anything

Stedman's color started breaking at around 4-5 months old - he got the "skunk stripe" of silver down his back LOL. Once all his "blue" came through, that pretty much stayed the same color, but his head (like Tatum's) started getting sooo tan. I mean his head used to be almost WHITE it was such a light silver color, and now it is a nice light tan. I go back and look at pictures of him when he was younger and I am just amazed at how much his head has changed colors! Tatum's head started getting tan/gold at a MUCH younger age than Stedman's though...it seems she changed colors alot faster than he did. It's funny because I never thought I wanted a darker Yorkie as I always liked the blue coats, but heck - now I just love them all, LOL!
P.S. - I hear ya about the shine on the coats. Tatum's is super shiny but my mom's Yorkie, Kenzi, has a Cotton Coat (or it COULD be modified...) and it isn't shiny like Tate's is but Kenzi is sooooo soft - just like you described it, it feels like rabbits fur!

I actually love it and she looks absolutely DARLING kept in a puppy cut!
