With other dogs I think it's because he just wants to play even though it sounds really mean and people look at him and take their dogs the other way. It's just rude when he yaps at other people, pets, and cars. He has been socialized although he acts like he hasn't. He has played with many other dogs and many, many more people. How can I gain control when he barks like that? It's driving me nuts!!

ps is anyone else having problems with YT today. It's beeing very slow with me and I couldn't even access it yesterday...I almost lost it! I can't go long with out YT...
I can sympathize with you on this one ...Years ago...I owned a minature poodle. She lived 19 yrs..bless her heart....I loved that dog...

But...the first 14 of her life sound a good bit like what your dealing with...
She was socialized..but such a barker...

She would bark at leaves blowing out our front door ...she would bark at the doorbell on commercials..she would bark when she first went outside just to let the world know that she was there...she would bark at dogs on a walk...
Embarass me ....oh I hear you on that too....I can't tell you the amount of times I'd have to just blindfold her with my hand...just to hush her some...

My next dog after her..was another poodle...(surprised huh?) LOL She was very different from my Cheyenne... He name was Annie..and the thing I did different with her...is take her to classes....put her in situations where she was expected to behave and be social....and...it really worked...

It does cost some..but so worth it...especially if this is your only pet...
She had worked up to the advanced level...Annie had an unknown blood disorder...I lost her at the age of 3 suddenly.

I have Sophie now..and she just turned 5 months...I went to my first puppy class without pets last night. We bring the pets next week. I hope to get her off to a good start...

And..yes...my heart did skip a beat as I left that class last night....
The advanced class was walking in...Shepard..Doberman..Malamute...Springer spaniel...Golden Retriever...and a POODLE ....
They ignored the other dogs there...and walked so nicely in...I wanted to stay and just watch...

It really is never too late with pets...they are smart..smart...
Good luck to you!
