I think there are actual genetic studies behind this. My soft-coated yorkie has and orange glow...he's blue and gold (he's soft coated but I wouldn't really say he's cottony/wooly...but not silky..it's straight and shiny though so I think it's silkier than most of your soft cotton coats) And my coarser silky coated yorkie has a green eye shine..she's black and gold.
