they are going to go at it on occasion, and you really can't prevent it.

I've got two cats, one is 20lbs, the other is 15. My little Ted weighs in at 3.4 lbs. The cats in only a week now "tolerate" him. But that doesn't mean he's hasn't gotten the swipe of a paw a few times.

The cats aren't going to hurt him. It may take up to a year for them to start tolerating each other more.
