In my case, my daughter, who is four, is a messy eater, and she drops half of her food on the floor. Thank god I feed my babies only healthy foods. Anyway, I would not worry about him not eating, just cut on the treats, as I will.
I have just given him some "Pedigree" wet food and some Science Diet nibbles from what another Vet gave me a while back to try. He's eating. As far as the dental treat....I only have given him 1/4 of it today. Usually, I give him 1/2.
