There is usually someone home with her and the longest we have left her alone so far is about 2 1/2 hours. She screams and cries in the crate. Anyway, I bought the ex-pen but now am scared to use it because I have heard people say they can climb out of it?? Does anyone here use the ex-pen while they are gone at work or something? I was just considering using it for when we would have to be gone for more than a couple of hours. If you do use one, has your yorkie ever climbed out and how long have you left them in there?
My little guy jumped out of his 2 foot high pen (jumped, climbed up the corner like a ladder). I came home to find him after work - he had had a lot of fun exploring and chewing numerous expensive things (luckily no power cords). I have since bought a 3 foot pen and he has not escaped. We have nicknamed our little guy "houdini" because he can really get out of anything - I mean - so small but able to jump a 2 feet pen at 10 weeks ... funny guy!

IMO - I would invest in a tall pen in order to make it last for years with your Yorkie. On a side note - our pen is metal and we are moving to a place with hardwood floors ... does anyone have any ideas what could be put along the bottom of the pen panels in order to protect the floor?
