There isn't really what you'd call a "normal" weight. It just varies with the dog. Did the breeder say what they were basing the adult weight estimate on?

A pound in two weeks seems to be quite a bit. What food do you have him on? That doesn't necessarily mean anything is wrong. It just seems a lot of weight to gain in that short a time.

He's probably perfectly normal. Just make sure you have him on a good food and he gets plenty of exercise. Not all Yorkies stay at breed standard weight. Even if he gets to 8-9 pounds, that's still a small dog, and he'll bring a lot of joy to your life.
