Default New to the Community/Liver shunts

Hello, my name is Jennifer and my yorkie's name is Jolliver. He is 10 months old and a wonderful little puppy. He is my first baby so i was new to the whole mommy role. I quickly learned that puppies are just like real children. I learned about this website after doing research on liver shunts. I read on here about a family who had learned that there little baby had one and they had taken their baby to UT Knoxville Vet. Teaching School. Our vet referred us there and i must say it has been a long couple of months. We went two weeks ago finally and they ran two test. one of the test ruled out a single large shunt so we did not have to have surgery, however we did have a liver biopsy done and we are still waiting on the results of that test. They think it may be the type of shunts were there are many shunts on the inside of the liver. they said it could be managed by diet. we have started that diet and have high hopes that he will live a long life. I will keep you updated.
