I think at 5 months they tend to act like that. It's important to teach them drop it, and reward them for dropping an item. They will test you a lot to see who is the boss. I really believe that, like children, yorkies feel safest when they believe someone other than themselves is in charge. I don't think neutering slowed Joey down, which happened about 6 months, I do think as her turned one he seemed to slow down, and is much calmer than he was as a puppy. I believe research shows neutered dogs are less aggressive, and are probably less anxious because the smells that once drove them nuts, no longer affect them. Neutering all by itself, isn't a cure all, training is very important.
