Maybe it depends on the situation. If my little "Butterfly" was in severe pain, bleeding, a broken bone, etc - yes, I'd get off my duff and get her help right away! But if she did not seen to feel good or was getting sick but it was not something that I was panicked about (yet) then I would love to have someone who might have experience with what I am going through to give me some advice.
I have also found that even though I LOVE my vet and am extremely thankfully for my vet, it has sometimes has been other very experienced dog owners who have given me some helps that my vet might not have even thought of. "Pooled" experience can be GREAT!
