I am also a first time Yorkie owner. My Toby slept in a crate for 2 1/2 nights. On the third night he woke up at 3AM to go potty. After taking him out to go I brought him into my bed with my husband and he's much happier and we don't mind sharing our bed with him. He is housebroken to potty outside and is well trained. We totally adore him. As far as getting a second yorkie I've heard the only thing better than a Yorkie is two Yorkies. good luck
