I think any donation amount that you could get would be appreciated! The only one I have ever heard where there is a huge particpation fee is for Breast Cancer Awareness.
I would suggest building a website too so you can collect $ easily from all over. Thats what I did for Sam & I for our charity walk for Operation Kindness!
