The danger is in the trend to breed smaller and smaller dogs. Many are now breeding 3 pounders and soon it will be 2 pounders.
The size not only can be a problem with delivering the babies, but also makes them so fragile they can be injured so easily.
These are dogs, they want to run and play and jump and wrestle with other dogs. But their size makes that lifestyle a danger to themselves.
There is also the concern that the same gene that makes them small can also cause other health issues as it does in abnormally small people. They might appear to be healthy but it might decrease their quality of life and life expectancy.
now before anyone comes in and slams me. remember this is not merely my opinion, this is a realistic scenerio. |
