I trained mine to use pads AND go outside, so if no one was home then there would hopefully be no accidents. Limiting their space and putting them on the pad and watching them constantly would be my best advice. Since I don't use pee pads as the main place to go, but outside, I'm not the best person to ask, however, if no one can make it to the door she does use the pad. Perhaps someone else can help you more, but those three things are the key.
