Thank you, wea re Orthodox. The rhitual with the cutting of the hair I am not quite sure what it's suppose to mean(shame on me), but the kneeling of the godmother with the baby under the priest's garment is done when the Godparents take an oath that they will protect and love the baby in case something happens to the parents.
