Joey's the first dog I've ever had that's displayed this trait so vigorously. It use to be every dog chew we gave him seemed more important to "bury" than chew. He would spend so much time finding a place to bury the bone, and would take his nose and rub the area than touch the bone all around the bone he would go, as if he were covering the bone with dirt. Obviously, this is an instinct not a learned behavior, but I found it so fascinating that dogs who don't even have any dirt will try to bury their bones.
