My sister's dog has bad allergies. She is losing fur around her nose and she chews her two front paws until the hair is gone. They have her on a really poor quality dog food that they think is wonderful because it says "organic" on the label. It contains corn and gluten, which I think is the first thing they should eliminate.
The problem is that the dog has high liver enzymes. Doesn't that mean that she should have a food that is lower in protein?
Please, I am desperate to help this poor girl; she is suffering and it's obvious. What is a great food that will help with her allergies when we don't even know what she's allergic to? My BIL has cancer and cannot work right now and my sister has a job as a cafeteria worker making minimum wage. They can't afford anything extreme right now but they will definately buy a better food. Testing for allergies will cost too much, so they will try to fix her diet first. If that doesn't work I will pay for the testing for them. Please bear in mind the liver issue.
Any help you can give me is greatly appreciated. Thank you.
