Animal Smiley 036 My April

When my yorkie, April was a puppy...she unfortuneatly experienced liver shunt. Hers was horrible. She went deaf and blind periodically and wouldn't eat or drink. She just paced the hallways (following the walls) and was completely miserable. Once we got the diagnosis...(she was about 4 months old) we had to take her in for surgery and the vet told us she would probably only live to see 1 year of age. She's now 11...so goes to show that they can overcome these obstacles. She isn't blind or deaf...she is just now starting to show signs of aging (cataracts)...but that's about it. I hope your Mia isn't a candidate for Liver Shunt, and that she is healthy soon!!

in 1997, April was the 14th smallest dog to ever be saved at Texas A&M University!!!
