The German version of the AKC has different standards as far as developing new breeds, and they were able to start their own registered breed, calling them the biewer Yorkshire Terrier.

Now, at least one of the american Biewer clubs is trying to prove that the Biewers were not pure bred yorkies, that they had another breed mixed in. and the reason they are doing that is because the AKC standards for developing a new breed states that you can not just use a color variation of the original breed to develope a new breed.

But it is possible that some of the dogs that are being sold as Biewers today, did in deed have another breed mixed in, and are not from the original Biewer lines.
If you are going to state facts, please make sure they are right. I don't remember ever talking with you about what the BTCA, Inc. believes or what information they have received from Mrs. Biewer.
The BTCA has never said that the Biewer Terrier had a different beginning. They originated from 2 standard Yorkies. We have proven that the Streamglen Kennel did also raise Shih Tzu's. Very easy for an accidental mating.
The BTCA is not saying there is another breed in the Biewer to get AKC recognition, they are saying it, because it is fact.
I find the people that are having a problem accepting the truth about the Biewer Terriers are people that just starting breeding when they found the Biewer, let alone ever breeding Yorkies.

We have tested every Biewer Line from Germany and they ALL clustered in the Biewer Terrier group, not the Yorkshire Terrier group. All our pedigree's go back to the Friedheck lines.
I think it would be very interesting to test some of the parti's to see which group they ended up in.

We dropped the Yorkshire from the name, because they are not purebred Yorkshire Terriers. Granted the majority of their makeup is Yorkie, but they are a breed of their own.
