No, i have not had that problem with ceramic bowls. Sometimes, though Suzi will push them herself.
I did the same thing too. Bought the plastic ones. Then heard they were no good for the dogs.
I also used placemats too. But, Suzi played in her water dish, and it was a soaking wet mess.
