Default What to do w/ one descended testicle?

Hello!

My Wylie has ony ONE descended testicle - he is 9 months old and I think he may be beginning to mark territory (indoors!).

The vets are unable to tell if he only has just the one testicle or if the 2nd testicle is just somewhere else (ie abdomen).

I guess I have 2 choices: 1) neuter the one testicle and be done with it -or- 2) neuter the one plus have abdominal surgery to search for the other testicle (much more major surgery).

I've had differing opinions from different vets on which way to go. Some say "he probably only has one - don't risk the abdominal surgery" ; others say "don't run the risk of leaving a testicle inside of him, it can cause health problems later".

Has anyone faced this decision? Do any of the breeders have advice?

THANKS for any help!
Ann
