Actually it was real easy.. My sister trained her havenese also. Each time we let her out we would say "go outside" ( along with the go wee-wee command
),and ring the bell. After she went we would reward her with a treat. Then every other time just good praise. It came rather quick. She has tried to fake us out and ring the bell just to get a treat, it's very funny. I bought a real pretty bell in the craft store( they have real nice ones around the holidays) and it hangs close to floor so she can reach.We let her out to do her business only out the side door so thats where the bell is. Yorkies are real smart I bet yours would do it too.
