I use to be afraid to cut my dogs nails too. But the groomers kept cutting their nails too short and making them bleed so I was forced to learn. I went out and bought a really good nail clipper and just did it. I've not made them bleed once so far!
It's so easy to do that I wish I would have learned earlier.
