I would say it is very possible for the two to get along. My boyfriend has a cocker spaniel and a Chihuahua and they are now best friends. At first when they are pups only let them be near each other when you are there. My BF would make his cocker lay down and let the puppy run. He taught Kobe the cocker "nice" so he calms down. Now they are brothers.
they have to always be together. Just take it slow .
