Try putting a blanket over the crate. I felt bad locking Nala up the first night I brought her home, so I let her roam the living room and I slept on the couch. I got absolutely no sleep because I was afraid of her chewing things she wasn't supposed to and eliminating in corners that I wouldn't notice until it was too late. But after another sleepless night of hearing her cry all night, I put a blanket over the crage and she hasn't cried since and that was a month ago. She will whine and wimper a little bit from time to time, but it's usually when she sees a lot of people walking around and it's kind of her way of saying "Hey everyone else is having fun why do I have to go to bed"? But then she calms down. I don't even need to cover her crate anymore. I hope it helps...it did wonders for me and Nala :0)
