I think because animals breed in nature all the time, all by themselves, people think there is nothing to breeding. They don't realize that once man domesticates an animal, they are no longer that close to nature, and often need mans help in their survival, and in their reproduction. The breeder who sold this pup should have informed them that no breeding should be done, and maybe she did, but this person thought the breeder just didn't want any competition.
The whole thing could be just a way to get your e-mail addresses as well. You might want to put use an e-mail account that isn't you main e-mail.
