When the mothers milk first starts to come in the body has not quite adjusted to the amount it has to make...If any of the teats are overfilled with milk the puppies can not latch on to empty the ducts of milk...

If this happens just gently express some milk, just enough to make it more pliable...The pups will be able to latch on and begin nursing on those teats...If you over express then you are just telling the body that this much milk is needed and you will not solve the problem...I highly doubt your mom has an infection this early but left unattended to she will...

Keep mommas teats clean and hair clipped away...We always take moms temp a couple times a day for a couple weeks after whelping...A temperature 103 or higher and off to the vet we go!...Good Luck!
