I'm not sure what else to suggest for your current problem, but if you're worried about what to do in the new place as far as flooring goes, Home Depot sells big area carpets for fairly cheap. I had to pick one up, and they have indoor/outdoor rugs that are like regular carpet, you could get those for the area you keep him in during the day. It may even work for you right now, since he likes chewing carpet, give him a carpet square to keepy busy with. Lucie has tons of toys too, and she loves chewing and digging but it seems like she is more entertained with blankets and rugs, she only likes her toys if someone else is playing with her.
