I have an Xpen with a lid for Cooper and I took a piece of plywood and cut it to fit exactly inside the floor of the xpen. then I went to the local carpet and vinyl store and they sold me a piece of remnant vinyl for 5 bucks that was cut to fit the plywood perfect. I glued the vinyl to the plywood with carpenters caulking. I then used an old plastic table cloth on my rug first. they the plywood, then placed the xpen over top of that. I put his toys, bed *small Crate with door propped open and pee pads and water dish in there. He has his own little condo.
THE floor is slightly raised and inside the pen so he cannot "dig" himself out because the plywood is too strong and I clip the lid down with carribiner rings so they are easy for me to get in but not for him to figure out how to open.
Here are a couple of pictures:
Good luck.
