Susan went wild over having a collar and leash on at first too. I couldn't stand seeing her seeming to suffer so (I know she wasn't actually suffering -- she was just making herself hysterical because it was new and alarming to her). So I'd put it on and leave it for 5 or 10 minutes and if there was a moment when she even SORT of slowed down her fit throwing, I'd take it off. It only took a few days for her to get used to it. Now she wears a collar all the time and gets excited when she the leash because it means something wonderful is about to happen. Hope your situation goes as smoothly.
