Confused I'm with you on this one!!

Boy I wish I had read your posting about a week ago. I have my female yorkie Dixie who is 17weeks old and my twin daughters have thier male yorkie Teddy who is 15 weeks old. They have run of the entire kitchen and we are trying to piddle pad train them. Some days they are so good and somedays not so good. Therefore they cannot have run of the house. I purchased small gates for the two doors leading into the kitchen. They are made for small dogs and are only 18 inches high. These have worked great up until about a week ago when Dixie who is the "HOUDINI" learned to jump up high enough and get traction with her little hind legs and over she goes. So I thought this is not going to work anymore. We only had to step over it so it was not too much of a problem for us humans. So I ordered from Walmart two baby gates that had pretty good reviews and were 30inches high and thought that would work. Just open the gate door and step through. Surely she could not jump this high. Last nite Hubby installed them and immediatly Dixie showed all of us how she could get her little 4pd. body right between the bars. SO, now we thought what can we do. So with cable ties we secured the 18inch ones to one side of the Walmart gate to secure them in til we could get to the home store to purchase something to wrap between the bars. This did not look too good and prohibited us from easily stepping into the kitchen but for a day or so we thought we could live with this. So we thought we had Dixie outsmarted til today when I left to go pick up my son from his summer job and when I returned both Teddy and Dixie were running all over the house and have just a grand old time exploring and playing with the cats and creating havoc. When I came in they looked so guilty, but so happy that I burst into laughter. Long story short, we worked on this some more tonite but tomorrow my hubby will be visiting the home store to get something to remedy this. Boy these yorkies sure are something. Amazing to me that they could get thru those bars. The gate you purchased sounds like the most perfect thing. I wish I had seen that kind. My thoughts are with you, let me know how it goes!!
