That sounds like an experience i had when i was the same age, 4 or 5. I used to sleep in bed with my mom cause i was scared and one night for no apparent reason i woke up and there was a figure at my doorway. Like you, i remember it so vividly, he looked pretty tall, maybe 6 or 7 ft, he was hairy from top to bottom, i mean real hairy, long thick hair. I don't remember a face cause it was dark but i do know that he looked at me thru the open door and since i was so little i called out a name, and it went away, then it came back a couple times to look thru at me again and finally went away for good. It looked surprised that i saw it, cause when i spoke to it is when it left and did a double check. It was freaky i tell you, and my mom also thinks i was dreaming, but no way, i know i wasn't.
