Someone else can probably answer that for you..I am not too familiar with APRI...but from my understanding they allow breeders to registered any dogs....meaning the breeder purchased an AKC pet only dog (limited registration) and breed it...they would not be able to register the liter with AKC due to the limited registration but they could however turn around and registered it with APRI. Or it means that maybe the sire was AKC and the dam was CKC which then the liter could not be registered with AKC because both sire and dam has to be AKC registered in order to registered the liter thru AKC...they could however registere with CKC showing or APRI. I could be wrong so don't hold me to my words...hehe
